Guizhou Plateau
Guizhou Plateau is located at the eastern part of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and is situated on the second step of terrain of China. It is a typical subtropical karstificated plateau and named as Guizhou Plateau due to its location at Guizhou Province. It is located at the watershed area between the Yangtze River and the Pearl River with an area of 176,360 km2 and an elevation of 1000-1500m.
Zhijindong Cave Geopark is located at the western part of Guizhou Plateau.
Charismatic Zhijin
Zhijindong Cave Geopark is just like a resplendent and peerless crown set in the west of the plateau.Linked by Qijiehe River, they combine to form three karst geomorphic units which are relatively independent and complete but utterly different units, namely, Zhijindong Cave, Qijiehe River and Dongfenghu Lake. They are in different development stages, having multilayer karst landforms with diverse forms and types, of which, caves, gorges, natural bridges and tiankengs are the typical representatives and outstanding sceneries in the world geoheritages of the same kind. The Geopark is an outstanding area fully representing the beauty of karst landscape in Guizhou Plateau, and also is the most miraculous and wonderful karst area in Guizhou Plateau.
Eco- Zhijin
With its complex and good ecological environment created by forest-river-gorge-fengcong, the geopark provides good natural conditions for the biological diversity; the natural plants in the geopark are well preserved and protected with a vegetation coverage of 68%. It has diverse plant types, and there are 27 rare or endangered species; among over 50 wild animals inhabiting there, 18 ones are rare or endangered species. Besides, there are 245 species of insects, 44 species of Araneae and 9 species of other animals, for example: cave biota.
Folk-custom of Zhijin
Currently, there are many nationalities living in Zhijin: Miao nationality, Yi nationality, Bai nationality, Buyi nationality, Gelao nationality, Shui nationality, Chuanqing people; they endow sincere and rich national culture heritage for the park: Guanzhai Old Town, ethnic village, Flower Dance Festival of Miao nationality, Torch Festival of Yi nationality, Song Festival of Buyi nationality, Celebration of Wuxian Bodhisattva andFestival lantern of Chuanqing people, Zhijin wax printing and embroidery, Zhijin marmite, and colorful national customs.
